The Neta V has been refreshed as the 2024 Neta Aya in China.

Remember the Neta V previewed locally earlier this year during the Malaysia Autoshow 2023? Well, it seems the model has been given a significant update in China by makers and brand parent Hozon Auto. Notably, the facelifted model now bears a new name too, now known as the Neta Aya.

Compared to the Neta V, the new Neta Aya sees mild exterior styling tweaks, though the front bumper intake now adorned with pins looks more prominent. Tweaked front and rear bumpers aside, the taillights have also been restyled to become more compact and sport what appears to be a connecting light bar.

Exterior tweaks are minor, but there are notable touches like the new front intake, restyled bumpers,
and new taillights.

On board, the cabin remains largely the same in this new Aya model over the V model it succeeds. It also continues to sport a 12-inch digital instrument panel plus a 14.6-inch portrait-oriented centre infotainment touchscreen. Notably, the latter is now powered by a Media Tek system-on-chip (SOC) suite.

Moreover, the Neta Aya now reportedly boasts a wider selection of cabin colour themes available too.

Mechanically, things remain unchanged as the Neta Aya continues to harness a front-mounted motor with two output choices. The first offers a 54 HP (40 KW) and 110 NM, whilst another sports slightly peppier figures of 94 HP (70 KW) and 150 NM instead.

Changes on board are minimal too, but there's now more colour choices available.

Juicing said motors are the choice between three battery capacities starting with a 31.15 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) type, followed by two nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) type choices that holds 31 kWh and 38.5 kWh.

The lower-output motor is paired with either of the lower capacity battery packs, whilst the higher-output motor is paired with the larger 38.5 kWh NMC unit instead. As for claimed range ratings, the former two boasts 318 KM whilst the latter has a higher claim of 401 KM, both based on the CLTC rating.

Notably, the Neta Aya’s battery is reportedly able to accept DC fast-charging inputs as high as 45 kW, which promises 30-80% charges in about 30 minutes. Moreover, this pint-sized EV crossover also boasts V2L abilities, capable of powering appliances via its 3.3 kW output.

A total of 4 variants are on offer in China, and prices have reduced too.

On board kit remains largely unchanged, with the entry-level guise getting 15-inch steel wheels, front airbags, rear parking sensors plus rear-view camera, cruise control halogen headlights, and a four-speaker audio unit. 15-inch alloy wheels, wireless charging pad, enhanced infotainment functions, heated side mirrors, automatic wipers and LED lighting are all hallmarks of a mid-spec and high-spec guises.

As for active driver assist (ADAS) features, this suite is offered as an optional package. This adds autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC), traffic jam assist, lane keep assist and departure warning, blind-spot monitor, and a few other features.

In China, the 2024 Neta Aya now reportedly commands lower starting prices over the model it replaces too. Sources report the base-spec model is now RMB15,000 (RM 9,527) less at RMB73,800 (RM46,869), whereas the range-topping guise is tagged at RMB88,800 (RM56,395) instead. The aforementioned ADAS suite option costs an additional RMB4,000 (RM2,540) on top of said figures.

The now pre-facelift Neta V version as seen during the Malaysia Autoshow 2023. No word yet if this will be replaced by the newer Neta Aya model locally.

For the moment, it appears there are no plans yet from local distributors Intro Synergy to introduce this face-lifted version locally. When it was first previewed, the Neta V stood as Malaysia’s most affordable new EV then, even garnering up to 100 bookings throughout its first public showing.
