Just three months after announcing its CKD programme in May 2023, CHERY Malaysia announced the successful completion and handover of the first Completely Knocked Down (CKD) units of the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro.

The handover ceremony was held at the Inokom CKD Plant in Kulim, Kedah through a symbolic exchange of the mock key, from Mr. Sui Keng Huat, the Managing Director of Inokom Corporation, to Mr. Xu Jing Zhong, the Plant Operation Director of Chery Malaysia.

Chery Malaysia has stated its unwavering commitment to expand its CKD manufacturing capabilities, invest in cutting-edge technology, and cultivate additional relationships with local suppliers in order to strengthen Malaysia's automotive ecosystem. This endeavour will not only strengthen its position in the automotive sector, but will also contribute significantly to the region's economic prosperity.

According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), China's auto exports topped 1.07 million vehicles in the first quarter of 2023, surpassing Japan to become the world's largest auto exporter. The Chery Group contributes significantly to this by achieving cumulative sales volume of 741,400 automobiles, representing a strong year-on-year growth of 56% just in the first half of 2023.

This not only reflects a historic high in semi-annual sales, but also extends an unprecedented 13-month streak of exceeding 100,000 vehicles in a single month, placing second in the industry in terms of growth rate. Among these accomplishments was the Chery brand's cumulative sales volume of 539,400 in the first half of the year, representing a significant year-on-year growth of 50.9%.

Furthermore, during the course of its 26-year history, Chery has constantly pioneered independent research and development, allowing the company to excel in technologies such as chip, software, and battery development to the high-end spectrum, ultimately leading to significant technological advancements.
