Jalan Sungai Besi (South Bound), heading towards Sungai Besi or Petaling Jaya, facing Fraser Business Park and Bulatan Loke Yew, will be closed for a year starting from 5th August 2023 to 4th August 2024.

According to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), the closure is necessary to facilitate renovation and construction works on the bridge at Bulatan Loke Yew. As a result, DBKL advises road users passing through the affected area to use several designated traffic diversions. These include the following:

Traffic from Bulatan Kampung Pandan heading to Sungai Besi or Petaling Jaya will be diverted into two sections, using the adjacent road near Federal Bakery and entering the contra lane in the neighbouring lane. (Refer to Attachment 1)

Traffic from Cheras heading to Jalan Loke Yew is only allowed to make a U-turn towards Cheras direction, and this traffic diversion will be permanent. The alternative route for traffic from Cheras to Jalan Sungai Besi is through Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Jalan Satu, Jalan Dua, and Jalan Tiga. For traffic coming from Cheras and heading to Jalan Yew, a U-turn should be made at the fly-over intersection on Jalan Maharajalela. The same applies to traffic coming from Cheras and going towards the vicinity of Jalan Yew. (Refer to Attachments 3A, 3B, and 3C)

DBKL further stated that these road closures are to facilitate the demolition and reconstruction of the bridge at Bulatan Pudu, leading to Jalan Sungai Besi (adjacent to Pude Polis Station), the access road from Jalan Pudu to Jalan Yew will be closed for all traffic simultaneously. The alternative route is via Jalan Sungai Besi, Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Jalan Satu, Jalan Dua, and Jalan Tiga. (Refer to Attachments 6A and 6B)
