2024 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV

The next-gen Volkswagen Tiguan is due for its global debut later in 2024, with the German marque already unveiled several official images of the car draped in camouflage wrap. However, this new Tiguan has been spotted without the camo wrap for the first time, while several skin-less images of this new model have also circulated online.

Starting with the spyshot, the new Tiguan was spotted roaming in the streets of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Captured and published by YouTuber Avtomanija TV, it seems that this camo-less underwent an official video shoot, with a Mercedes-Benz GLE camera car following the SUV closely.

From the spyshot video, you’ll notice that the new Tiguan boasts a more rounded and curved design compared to its more angular and boxy predecessor. Additionally, this spyshot also unveiled several details that were covered by the camo-draped model we saw earlier, such as the stunning IQ.Light system for both the headlights and taillights, while a slew of chrome trims suggests that this might be the top-specced R-line variant.

Should you want more details on this new model, fortunately there’s a series of images of the next-gen Tiguan leaked, showcasing three studio shots of the car with additional graphics and labelling. Posted by Facebook user MQB-Coding & Retrofit, the first of the three leaked images showcases the front quarter part of the Tiguan.

From here, you’ll see the new Tiguan sporting new front fascia, featuring curved IQ.Light LED headlights with full-width LED bar that is placed on its faux upper grille panel. Aside from that, its lower grille also seems to be enclosed, which is flanked by a pair of side air vents. Surprisingly, there’s no fog lamps in sight.

The second leaked image depicts the rear part of the new Tiguan, where you can see its stunning IQ.Light LED taillights, which looks similar to the one we saw on the facelifted Touareg. Another design element adopted from its bigger SUV sibling is the wheels the new Tiguan rides on, featuring double five spoke design with two-tone finishing.

On the other hand, the third and final leaked image unveils the interior part of the new model. However, this is no news as VW previously teased the innards of the new Tiguan in our previous teaser report. The cabin features a bigger central infotainment screen than what we saw on the Golf Mk8, while the steering wheel now comes with physical buttons instead of the finicky touch-sensitive ones.

The new Tiguan will be offered with new plug-in hybrid powertrain

Underpinning VW’s new MQB EVO architecture, the new Tiguan will be offered in various powertrain options, ranging from the 1.5-litre eTSI petrol mild hybrid (MHEV), a fully-ICE 2.0-litre TSI petrol, a 2.0-litre TSI diesel, plus two eHybrid plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options. All of them will be mated to VW’s signature seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Unlike its predecessor, the new Tiguan will only come in a single short-wheelbase bodystyle.

The all-new Volkswagen Tiguan SUV is poised to make its global debut some time later in Q1 2024. The third-gen model will be the final model to get an ICE, as VW will go full electric with its next-gen iterations.
