- Tesla Supercharger Pavilion KL Operational - RM1.25/kWh, RM4/minute Idle Fee
The wait is over for all Tesla-stans, as Tesla's first superchargers at Pavilion KL are now operational. As we all know, Tesla Malaysia was formed as part of the MITI's BEV programme, which calls for the tech giant to build 50 Supercharging stations in the country by 2026, with 30% of them open to multi-brand public charging.
So far, 12 charging spots have been identified; however, it is unknown which of these 12 would house the 30% multi-brand chargers. Malaysia, as we know, will receive the V3 Supercharging unit based on the 8 units deployed at Pavilion KL basement Level 1 at Pillar C21.
If you want to try out the superchargers, keep in mind that the first 8 units are just for Teslas, therefore for the time being, only local grey imports will be able to use them, as Tesla Malaysia will only be shipping certified Malaysian units in January 2024. Tesla Malaysia, as previously reported, would enable grey import Teslas access to its supercharging network, with the exclusion of Japanese imports and Tesla Model S and Model X.
Shahrol Halmi shared on the MYEVOC Facebook page, using the Tesla Supercharger would cost RM1.25/kWh with a hefty idle fee of RM4/minute. In comparison, the ChargEV DC 320kW in Berjaya Times Square, the closest high performance DC charger to Pavilion KL, charges RM1.20/kWh with an RM20 valet fee if you exceed 30 minutes charging time. Both of these chargers are clearly meant for EV users to plug in for a quick high speed charge and not for those who would like to do some shopping in the mall while charging their vehicles.
