BYD Will Remove ‘Build Your Dreams’ Slogan For Its European Cars

image.png According to reports, Chinese automaker BYD will remove a controversial slogan from the majority of its vehicles sold in Europe.

For the record, BYD is one of the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturers, having surpassed Tesla in EV delivery in the first quarter of 2023.

While the brand is new to the UK, it is well-known in China and Europe, with BYD hoping to surpass 250,000 global sales per month in the near future. image.png

Despite the grand unveiling, the Shenzhen-based automaker has chosen to remove a key slogan from many of its European vehicles.

The vehicles are frequently seen with "Build Your Dreams" lettering on the back, which is the meaning of BYD.

However, the phrase has proven to be divisive, with some executives concerned that it is discouraging drivers and dealerships from purchasing and selling vehicles.

BYD's European customer and experience manager, Tim Bryant, commented on the name change, adding that the decision was made based on driver feedback.

He went on to say, "European Seals will not have 'Build Your Dreams' lettering at the back."

BYD has carefully considered dealer, journalist, and dealer partner feedback over the last year, with some in favour of the lettering and others not.
“We’ve taken the majority viewpoint and utilised the speed and agility of our vertically-integrated supply chain to ensure that all Seals built for Europe will feature a cleaner rear tailgate design featuring discreet BYD lettering.”
The "Build Your Dreams" tagline is deeply embedded in Chinese culture. image.png

However, it is believed that the message was not well received in Europe, with some drivers even declining an opportunity to purchase the car as a result.
