- Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally - The Best Looking Mach-E To Date!
The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally, the latest addition to the successful Mustang Mach-E line-up, is a rally-inspired EV that would take the spirit of Mustang onto off-road conditions. To begin with, we agree that the car looks the part and wears the rally appearance really well, but we are equally perplexed as to why rally? Americans, unlike Europeans and Asians, have never been in rallies unlike the BAJA and NASCAR.
In any case, we're delighted this guise was coined because, in our opinion, this is the best incarnation of the Mustang Mach-E ever. The Mach-E Rally's powertrain would be based on the GT, with a dual-motor layout aiming for a minimum output of 480HP and 882Nm of torque. A 91 kWh lithium-ion battery with an estimated EPA range of 400KM and a 10-80% charge-up time of 36 minutes powers this arrangement.
Aesthetically the Mach-E Rally would feature a striking rear spoiler inspired by the Focus RS, contrasting accents, distinctive upper and lower body mouldings, a unique front splitter, a black painted steel roof, and a purposeful front fascia housing built-in rally-style fog lights. It would also include shielding for the front and rear motors, protective film on the door cladding and fender arches to minimise paint damage, and optional dealer-installed styled mud flaps to reduce debris spray. The front end also includes a recovery point and a hook for off-road adventures.
The Mustang Mach-E Rally would come fitted with a unique suspension system, raised by 20 millimetres compared to the standard Mustang Mach-E GT, coupled with specially tuned springs, MagneRide shocks. It would also wear classic rally-style white 19-inch wheels fitted with 235/55 R19 Michelin CrossClimate2 tires, providing enhanced sidewall and grip on loose surfaces. The front brakes are also upgraded with Brembo callipers with 385-millimetre rotors.
Unique to the Mustang Mach-E Rally is the RallySport Drive Mode, designed specifically for off-road driving, allowing for greater yaw, a linear throttle response, and more aggressive damping for improved handling on loose corners. This drive mode, combined with the new tires, also enables the Mustang Mach-E Rally to perform well in snowy and slippery road conditions.
To put the Mustang Mach-E Rally to the test, Ford designed a brand-new rally course at its Michigan Proving Ground, crafted by rallycross experts to simulate real-world conditions. The prototypes underwent rigorous 500-mile tests, replicating rally-cross durability trials to ensure the vehicle's resilience matched its design intentions.
All Mustang Mach-E Rally would come standard with two racing stripes, complementing a vibrant colour range availability which includes Grabber Blue, Shadow Black, Eruption Green, and eye-catching Grabber Yellow. Optional colours that can be ordered at additional cost are Star White and new Glacier Gray.
Inside, the car combines comfort, functionality, and style. The dashboard and steering wheel's bottom spokes have gloss white accents, while the doors have contrasting stitching. The performance seats, developed by Ford, would also have gloss white seatbacks and "Mach-E Rally" debossed into the seating surface.
While the Mustang Mach-E Rally's exact starting MSRP in the United States has yet to be announced, it is expected to be around $65,000 (RM304,000), and we certainly hope right hand drive versions will be built for countries that drive on the "right" side of the road, where "rally" inspired machines like that would be "really" appreciated.
