9th Mazda Charity Golf Tournament Raises RM800,000 for Mazda Medicare Fund
Bermaz Motor recently hosted its 9th Mazda Charity Golf Tournament, aimed at raising funds for the Mazda Medicare Fund (MMF). The MMF's mission is to provide humanitarian aid and medical relief to underprivileged in Malaysia, with a strong focus on supporting charitable communities such as old folk's homes and orphanages through financial assistance and charity initiatives.
This year, the charity tournament took place at the Glenmarie Golf & Country Club in Shah Alam and received overwhelming support from 184 participants. Thanks to the generosity of golfers, donors, and sponsors, the event successfully raised approximately RM800,000.00 outdoing last year collection of RM509,000.
During the prize-giving luncheon representatives from various beneficiaries, including Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital in Penang, Pertubuhan Rumah Anak Yatim Berkat Kasih (House of Love), and Pertubuhan Baitul Mahabbah, were invited on stage to receive symbolic cheques.
The MMF was established in 2015, jointly managed by Prima Merdu Sdn Bhd and in collaboration with B. Braun Avitum Renal Services. Its primary goal is to provide life-saving haemodialysis treatment to end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients facing financial constraints.
Currently, there are 13 B. Braun's dialysis centres operating nationwide, offering subsidised haemodialysis treatments to eligible patients. Over the past seven years, MMF has contributed a total of RM5 Million, which has supported B. Braun Dialysis Centers and charitable homes throughout Malaysia.
Furthermore, MMF has been a strong supporter of various charitable communities, including old folk's homes, orphanages, people with disabilities, and children with Down syndrome. The MMF operates with the help of volunteers within the Bermaz organisation, ensuring that all donations received directly benefit those in need, with no additional operational costs.
In 2018, the Mazda Privilege Card (MPC) was introduced, where the applicant's sign-up fee of RM100.00 serves as a donation to MMF.
With the MPC, Mazda owners not only support underprivileged individuals but also enjoy tax exemption from Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN) on top of enjoying a 15% discount on selected Mazda genuine spare parts and a 5% discount on labour charges at all Mazda Showroom and Service Centers operated by Bermaz Motor and Prima Merdu.
