- Chery Partners UNICEF To Focus On Global Children's Education
Chery Automobile and UNICEF have announced a new two-year, $6 million partnership to benefit global education initiatives. The collaboration was formally launched at the inaugural Chery International User Summit in Wuhu, China, with a signing ceremony.
Ningbo, Secretary of the Wuhu Municipal Committee, Mr. Yin Tongyue, Chairman of Chery Holdings Group, and UNICEF representatives Amakobe Sande, Sanaullah Panezai, Chief of Education, and Manuel Pinzon, Chief of Partnerships and Innovation were among those in attendance.
UNICEF's State of Global Learning Poverty 2022 report estimates that, prior to the global COVID-19 pandemic, 57% of 10-year-old children were unable to read and comprehend a simple sentence, compared to 70% today.
UNICEF's Representative to China, Amakobe Sande, expressed her sincere gratitude for Chery's backing of UNICEF's educational programmes. She emphasised the potential for this partnership to strengthen education systems in numerous nations, as well as the positive effects it will have on marginalised and vulnerable children worldwide.
The Director of UNICEF Private Fundraising and Partnerships, Carla Haddad Mardini, emphasised the partnership's transformative potential and Chery's financial support in helping to reach underprivileged children and give them opportunities to reach their full potential and create better futures.
Through the support of UNICEF's education programmes, which offer high-quality education to the most disadvantaged and marginalised children, this new partnership seeks to address the global learning crisis.
Additionally, Chery will provide support for educational initiatives in China, Mexico, South Africa, and Turkey, guaranteeing equal learning opportunities, safe, secure, and inclusive learning environments for kids and teenagers, as well as increased employability. It is affordable to ensure a better future for kids, communities, and countries by funding impoverished children's education.
The chairman of Chery Holding Group, Yin Tongyue, highlighted the company's 26-year dedication to CSR, which includes charitable endeavours like environmental preservation, disaster relief, focused poverty alleviation, and support for education. Chery has been operating in more than 80 countries and regions since it began to expand internationally 20 years ago. Chery's global strategy is centred around social responsibility, emphasising talent development in international markets, environmental protection, social welfare, and green development.
By utilising its global presence, resources, and influence, Chery hopes to further advance children's education and guarantee that more children have equal access to care and education through this partnership with UNICEF.
