Geely Holding Group, the largest privately held automotive group in China, and DRB-HICOM Berhad (DRB-HICOM) have signed a Master Collaboration Agreement (MCA) outlining their combined efforts to advance Malaysia's Automotive Hi-Tech Valley (AHTV).

The signing of the MCA marks a crucial milestone in the partnership between Geely Holding and DRB-HICOM for the development of AHTV. This agreement delineates the framework for governance, mutual commitments, and the specific roles both parties will play in promoting and developing AHTV.

AHTV is positioned to draw investments and talent from around the world as well as from Malaysia. The objective is to make Malaysia's AHTV a hub for the development of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) on a worldwide scale. AHTV is envisioned as an open hub for the development of future vehicles, with a special emphasis on the advancement of cutting-edge parts and components required for NEVs. This programme will expand the skills of regional suppliers who specialise in high-tech manufacturing.

Geely Holding CEO Daniel Li expressed optimism in a statement that read, "DRB-HICOM and PROTON would collectively seize this historic opportunity through AHTV, aiming to increase investments in science and technology, foster talent, drive business innovation, and enhance product competitiveness and brand influence.

Daniel further added, “I think that Geely's expertise in innovation on a worldwide scale, its sophisticated modular vehicle architectures, its smart electrified product development systems, and its capacities to empower global talent will all greatly contribute to the project's viability.”
