- New Toyota Land Cruiser Se Previews Future Land Cruiser EVs
The Toyota Land Cruiser Se BEV concept will make its inaugural debut at the upcoming 2023 JMS
The upcoming Japan Mobility Show (JMS) 2023 is set to witness several new and upcoming models making its first global debut. Aside from a barrage of new BEV concepts and micro-mobility solutions, Toyota’s showcase at the JMS this year also features the all-new Toyota Land Cruiser Se – the first-ever all-electric SUV to don the iconic LC nameplate.
Measuring 5,150 MM long and a wheelbase of 3,050 MM, the new Land Cruiser Se is a pretty big SUV, featuring three rows of seats that can house seven passengers. Unlike the Land Cruisers of the past, the new LC Se features a very futuristic design with angular lines and chiselled edges. Up front, the Land Cruiser Se gets a fully-enclosed front grille design that is flanked by slim LED headlights and a small opening with Toyota lettering placed on it.
From the side, the LC Se gets a pretty rugged and muscular stance courtesy of the flared-out wheel arches and chiselled shoulder line. Adding some sportiness to this rather boxy-looking SUV are the ‘floating’ roof design and a rounded rear end with a slim LED light bar.
Unfortunately, Toyota has yet to unveil any details regarding the mechanical bits of this new EV SUV concept, except that it’ll promise a “high-torque driving performance” and a street-focused suspension. However, it remains to be seen whether this setup will somewhat compromise the off-roading pedigree that the LC nameplate has been associated with for aeons.

Aside from the Land Cruiser Se, Toyota’s showcase at this year’s JMS (previously known as the Tokyo Motor Show) will also showcase a peculiar mid-size EV pick-up truck concept known as the Toyota EPU, as well as several other electrified micro-mobility solutions like the Toyota Land Hopper foldable electric scooter and more. More importantly, the new Land Cruiser Se concept will spearhead the marque’s rapid electromobility shift alongside the mysterious FT-3e EV, with both concept models poised to enter production as early as 2026.
The 2023 Japan Mobility Show is poised to take place from Oct 26 to Nov 5 in Tokyo, Japan. Apart from Toyota, numerous other marques are also expected to showcase and flaunt their latest and greatest innovations for the first time ever.
