- Proton Set To Debut New EV In 2025 - HLIB

The electric vehicle (EV) from Proton could make its debut as early as 2025. The Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB), in a research note published yesterday, stated that it was still inclined to "buy" DRB-Hicom's stock at RM1.43, with a target price (TP) of RM2.
Proton is anticipating continued growth momentum in 2023 and sales targets of 310,000 units in 2030 and 500,000 units in 2035, according to a note released by the research house on Wednesday. Management is still focused on introducing new, appealing models with improved production and cost efficiencies as well as enhancing customer experiences.
According to the research house the new Proton EV could go on sale as early as 2025. Additionally, Proton is creating its own EV range by utilising Geely's technological know-how. According to HLIB, The Edge reported, "Management has guided the new Proton EV model to be launched as early as 2025."

The research institute also stated that Proton and Gentari are working together on EV development, mobility, and the new energy ecosystem.
For the record, HLIB reported in March 2022 that Proton will launch its first electric vehicle (EV) by 2027. If the most recent estimate of 2025 comes to pass, Proton will have been working diligently and covertly on its EV research and development, well ahead of schedule, Paul tan reported.
