Ford Mustang GT Gains New California Special Pack in The US
The seventh-gen Ford Mustang GT gets new California Special styling package
Ford is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its most iconic nameplate next year – the Mustang. Ahead of its big birthday bash next year, the American automotive giant decides to give an early birthday present to the seventh-gen Ford Mustang GT model, in the form of a new California Special style package.
Originally introduced back in 1968, the newly-revived California Special package is offered to both the cabrio and fastback body styles of the current-gen Mustang GT. This package essentially adds a slew of Rave Blue details and accents to both the car’s exterior and interior.
The California Special styling package adds a slew of blue and black accents around the car
Among the exterior parts ‘affected’ by this package includes both the nostril and the iconic GT/CS emblem at the front grille, the 5.0 emblem at the front fenders, side decals, as well as the 19-inch double five-spoke alloy wheels the GT rides on. Said blue accents are then complemented by some dark-hued elements such as the dark tint for the LED headlights, gloss black stripes at the side, and many more.
Ford designers apply the same blue-and-black theme to the cabin of the California Special model. For starters, the cabin features perforated Navy Pier upholstery with Ebony Black leather for the seats, plus dual-colour Raptor Blue and Metal Grey contrast stitchings can also be found on the seats, dashboard, central console, steering wheel, and door cards.
Elsewhere, the cabin is also donned with a California Special emblem on the front dash, plus special GT/CS-badged floor mats to ensure that passengers are aware that this is no ordinary Mustang GT model.
The new California Special package is exclusively offered to the GT Premium variant of the Mustang
Offered exclusively to the GT Premium variant of the seventh-gen Mustang, the California Special package is exclusively available with the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine, which is mated to either a Getrag-sourced six-speed manual transmission or an optional 10-speed automatic – delivering 486 HP and 567 NM to its rear wheels (RWD).
The exclusive California Special package for the new Ford Mustang GT is now available for purchase in the US market, where customers need to fork out an extra $1,995 (RM9,419) for it, on top of the GT Premium’s asking price. The all-new Ford Mustang GT California Special will also make its first public appearance at the upcoming 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, happening later in Nov 16.
