Hyundai Motor Company has kicked off its "Go Far with Zero Worries" IONIQ 5 ASEAN Tour, and its Malaysian leg was flagged off earlier today at Hyundai Sime Darby Motors Ara Damansara.

This convoy drive effort will cover 2,751 KM across Southeast Asia. The Flag-Off Ceremony began on Nov 20 at the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre Singapore (HMGICS), will last until Nov 30 and conclude at Ho Chi Minh City's Royal Palace in Vietnam.

The convoy of three HMGICS cars and two Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) cars are poised to demonstrate the Ioniq 5's dependability, eco-friendliness, and long-distance capabilities during this drive. The effort also see the Ioniq 5 driven across Southeast Asia from Singapore to Vietnam, travelling through Malaysia, Thailand, and Cambodia.

This excursion is modelled after a similar tour that ran from the Korean Peninsula to Jeju Island organised by the Association of Singapore (AAS) and Hyundai Korea Domestic Market.

The IONIQ 5 ASEAN Tour includes representatives from Hyundai Motor Company, the AAS, Hyundai club members, local community influencers across ASEAN countries, and Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) from Indonesia and Thailand, involved.

The drive also include stopovers at 20 iconic destinations. Amongst them are the Penang Heritage Walk here in Malaysia, as well as the picturesque Bayon Temple in Cambodia.

According to Woo In Lee, After Sales Service Engineer, Hyundai Motor ASEAN, the Ioniq 5 was picked for this journey due to its SUV segmentation, which makes it easier to transport bulk items required when travelling across ASEAN over a 10-day period. He also stated that the convoy would make charging stops at least twice a day to ensure a smooth drive.

The revolutionary Vehicle to Load (V2L) feature of the Ioniq 5 would allow it to be used as a charging outlet, benefiting not only the participants but also the local communities along the route.

The tour aims to show that the Ioniq 5 is more than just a car, but also a symbol of Hyundai's commitment to crafting a more sustainable and connected future for the ASEAN region.

Low Yuan Lung, Managing Director of Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM), and Mr. Pravinderjeet Singh, Head of Sales, HSDM, flagged off the participants on their Malaysian leg of the tour at the Hyundai Ara Damansara branch earlier today.
