- Launched: 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe - 2 Variants, From RM186K
Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) finally launched the long-awaited face-lifted fourth-generation Hyundai Santa Fe. As a refresher, HSDM initially previewed this mid-sized, three-row SUV late last year alongside the also then new Tucson.
Those waiting for the latest fifth-gen version of the Santa Fe will be disappointed indeed as the wait continues. Judging from the timing of the initial preview mentioned and today’s eventual launch, the wait for that new-generation model is set to last much longer.
Two variants are available, those being a 2.2L Diesel and 1.6L Hybrid, and both are locally assembled (CKD) too. HSDM touts the refreshed Santa Fe will continue to set new standards in the market, delivering a perfect blend of power, efficiency, and sleek design.
“The Santa Fe has always been a key player in Hyundai's SUV lineup, addressing the needs of Malaysian families. Its bold design, advanced technology, and multiple powertrain options ensure it continues to impress those looking for a versatile yet premium driving experience,” said Jeffrey Gan, MD for Southeast Asia at Sime Darby Motors.
In terms of aesthetics, the refreshed Santa Fe sports a bold, modern aesthetic featuring a wide grille with Hyundai’s signature geometric pattern. That bit is integrated seamlessly with T-shaped LED DRLs, creating a striking visual presence.
At the rear, the refreshed Sante Fe also sports an updated rear fascia featuring revised taillights that are now connected by a chrome strip. The rear bumper is also redesigned and houses a full-width red reflector strip too.
On board, the cabin now sports a new redesigned floating centre console layout. This not only frees up more cabin space, it also enables extra storage via a redesigned lower dashboard section.
Underneath, the 2.2-litre CRDi 4-cyl turbo-diesel variant offers 199 HP and 440 NM outputs. Said oil-burner is paired with an 8-speed DCT automatic box and all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup as well.
The Hybrid variant, on the other hand, pairs a 1.6-litre TGDi 4-cyl turbo petrol mill with a 44.2 kW e-motor that offers a total system output of 227 HP and 250 NM. Drive goes to the front wheels (FWD) via a 6-speed automatic transmission instead.
Over onto specifications and HSDM’s press release notes a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen primed across both variants that offer pre-loaded maps, navigation function and wireless Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto. Standard kit also includes dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate, as well as a full array of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features via the Hyundai SmartSense suite.
Other notable changes and additions include a Terrain Mode selector granting drivers easy access to toggle between Eco, Sport, Comfort and Smart drive modes, followed by the HTRAC AWD system’s offer of sand, snow and mud presets.
The refreshed 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe sees four paintjob options available - Phantom Black, Creamy White Pearl, Magnetic Grey, and Stormy Sea. Price, on the other hand, ranges between RM185,888 to RM205,888 excluding insurance.
Included in said figures is a comprehensive 5-year or 300,000 KM warranty coverage. Additionally, HSDM is offering an RM10,000 discount for early bird bookings, but this is limited to just the first 100 customers.
