Hyundai opened a high-tech electric vehicle factory in Singapore known as Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre on Tuesday, calling it a "pillar" of the South Korean automaker's electrification strategy for the coming decades.
It's not just an assembly line or factory. Yes, this is where cars are assembled, but this isn't the centre's only function. One of its main objectives as the Hyundai Group's first worldwide innovation hub is to act as a testbed for cutting-edge manufacturing methods and procedures.

According to the company, 200 robots will perform half of the tasks at the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre Singapore, and it will use new production methods that will move away from traditional conveyor belts.
The facility, which has been in operation since early this year but was formally opened on Tuesday, can produce 30,000 electric vehicles per year, Hyundai added.

The Singapore plant "will establish itself as one of two Hyundai Motor Group innovation pillars that will lead the company's future in the electrification era over the next 50 years", the statement said.

The facility "synchronizes the virtual and physical worlds in real time", enabling humans and robots "to cooperate in ways not seen before", it added.

Human workers can simulate tasks in a digital virtual space, while robots physically move components on the assembly line. The robots will perform assembly, inspection, and facility organisation, as well as more than 60% of component process management, ordering, and transportation.
The way the factory assembles cars is truly amazing, especially when you take into account how little room it requires, how little real labour is needed, and how quickly it can complete an assembly.

The plant currently manufactures the IONIQ 5 electric vehicle as well as the fully autonomous IONIQ 5 "robotaxi," which can operate without a driver. The IONIQ 6 sedan will be built at the plant beginning next year.
Hyundai intends for it to be a destination for tourists as well. One of the following would be possible for them to accomplish:

Purchase and modify a vehicle Pick up their vehicle Factory tour Dine at the eatery. Take a spin around the Skytrack.

Hyundai has plans for customers to order and pick up their cars immediately because assembly only takes a few hours. Once sales representatives greet them, customers can choose their preferred colour and customise the interior trim, among other options.
They can take part in activities around the factory while their car is being prepared on the production floor after verifying their order and finishing the required paperwork.

One of Hyundai’s highlights, aside from the production floor and all of its associated activities, is its sizable smart farm. They produce roughly 200 vegetables a day collectively.
