- PADU Database For Targeted Fuel Subsidy Is 72% Complete - Rafizi
In May, Bernama reported that the government is going to implement a new strategy to improve its intended targeted subsidy scheme next year. This new strategy will start with diesel and electricity and involve gathering metrics related to household net disposable income through the use of Pangkalan Data Utama (PADU).
Rafizi Ramli, the minister of economy, stated that the database is currently 72% complete and that 29.8 million cross-ministerial and agency data have been compiled, so it appears that everything is moving along as planned.
According to the minister, once the database is complete, the targeted subsidy distribution process will be carried out fairly to eligible households.
When asked if the targeted subsidy distribution will include RON 95 petrol, he said the government will first focus on the announced electricity and diesel subsidy components and will monitor their effectiveness before announcing any decision on a targeted subsidy for RON 95.
"Of course, when we start switching to RON 95, the consideration expands, involving more people and families from each household." That is why we will ensure that PADU is available by 2024 and that any decision on how to achieve RON 95 is simple," he explained.
