- Phase 2 Padu Registration Expected To Climb - Rafizi Ramli
According to Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, registration for the second phase of the government's central database hub (Padu) will commence once the Cabinet approves a number of criteria that are presently being refined by the finance ministry, as the lead agency before presenting them to the Cabinet.
Approximately 55% of families, mostly those in the low-income category, registered on the database hub during the first phase of PADU, but Rafizi anticipates a greater rate of public registration this time, according to Bernama.
On the other hand, the majority of high-income earners believed that they did not need to register because they were unlikely to be eligible for subsidies, based on the earlier presumption that the M40 group would not receive any.
The minister anticipates that more people will register now that the government has made it clear that only those who are T15 and above are exempted.
"If the public understands that verifying eligibility for RON 95 subsidies relies on data from PADU and they don't register, they risk being excluded," the minister stated. He expressed confidence that with clear explanations, more people will register with PADU to guarantee they do not miss out on any government assistance.
