The controversial new Ferrari Purosangue has officially made landfall in Malaysia, but you CAN'T buy it. At least not right now...

Yes, you read that headline right. Though standing as the centrepiece for the opening of the first new Ferrari showroom on Malaysian soil under its new local brand custodians, you CAN’T buy the Ferrari Purosangue. Well, not now at least.

Before we explain why, let us bring you up to speed about said new vanguards of the fabled prancing horse marque for Malaysia. As reported earlier this year, Ferrari’s regional arm opted to appoint Ital Auto Malaysia as its new Malaysian importers after dropping its predecessor Naza Italia Sdn Bhd.

Nestled at the base of the Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur - next to KLCC - is the new Ferrari Kuala Lumpur showroom operated by Ital Auto Malaysia.

Inside, the new Ferrari showroom by Ital Auto Malaysia is indeed very posh and, aptly, very Italian.

The shift has been swift because the Malaysian-owned but Singapore-rooted Ital Auto firm - part of the Komoco Group - elected to staff its Malaysian operations with plenty of ex-Naza Italia personnel. The firm also established  after-sales operations in Glenmarie, Shah Alam in an equally rapid timeline.

Things culminated today as Ital Auto Malaysia officially launched itself with a brand-new dedicated Ferrari showroom located at the base of the upscale Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur – right next to KLCC. For the occasion, the firm also chose to launch two of the Italian marque’s latest and greatest.

The Purosangue is one of which and, as alluded in our headline, it isn’t something that any discerning UHNWIs – emphasis on the ‘U’ – can simply place an order on should they fancy waltzing into Ital Auto Malaysia’s swanky new premise anytime soon.

Globally, Ferrari have closed the order books for the Purosangue. The firm adds that the model will not take up more than 20% of its total annual deliveries, thus making it both exclusive and rare.

For starters, Ferrari have already closed the order books for the Purosangue globally, and customers who’ve already placed orders face wait times lasting several years. This largely stems from Ferrari’s bizarre sales strategy it set on the Purosangue specifically.

After the Purosangue debuted last year, Ferrari famously said it won’t turn itself into an SUV-led brand as how Lamborghini and Aston Martin have through their respective Urus and DBX. Ferrari even notes that the Purosangue will not take up more than 20% of its total annual deliveries.

As such, Ferrari intends to remain as a sportscar-led brand, regardless of the high demands generated by the Purosangue, which it has. In a way, you could say this strategy will keep the Purosangue a relatively exclusive and rare offering, the latter driven by the former.

The Purosangue stands as Ferrari's first-ever four-door, four-seat luxury-focused and high-performance GT sportscar that promises to be 'unlike any other'.

The Purosangue shares the same 6.5-litre nat-asp V12 heart as the 812 Superfast/GTS/Competizione, albeit detuned slightly to 715 HP and 716 NM.

We’ve already written an extensive feature about the Purosangue prior, but here’s a quick refresher. With a name that translates to ‘thoroughbred’ or ‘purebred’ in Italian, it stands as Ferrari's first-ever four-door, four-seat luxury-focused offering that’s also still infused with its renowned racing performance DNA.

One key highlight is a stratospheric-revving naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 heart shared with the 812 Superfast/GTS/Competizione, albeit slightly detuned to 715 HP and 716 NM. Paired with Ferrari’s trick 8-speed F1 DCT automatic and all-wheel-drive (AWD), it sees 0-100 KM/H done in just 3.3 seconds, 0-200 KM/H in 10.6 seconds, and a claimed V-max of 310 KM/H.

Untypical of any Ferrari, the Purosangue boasts 'Coach' doors primed with soft-close function and powered rear-hinged rear doors a la Rolls-Royce.

Said doors grant easier access to the Purosangue's spacious and luxurious cabin that sports four power-adjustable seats primed with massage function too.

The strong emphasis on luxury is evident through the Purosangue’s adoption of things like ultra-fast acting active suspension, Rolls-Royce-esque ‘Coach’ doors with soft-close function and powered rearward-opening rear doors, not forgetting a spacious cabin decked out in high luxury and tech plus four power-adjustable seats equipped with massage function too.

Having sized it up in the flesh, the Purosangue does live up to Ferrari’s claim of being ‘unlike any other’, and that’s a fact fuelled further by its exclusivity borne out of Ferrari’s unique product strategy planned for it. Again, you can read more about the Purosangue in our past feature of it by clicking here.

Despite leaning more towards comfort and luxury, the Purosangue's speed remains typical of Ferrari - 0-100 KM/H in 3.3 secs, 0-200 KM/H in 10.6 secs, plus a V-Max of 310 KM/H.

Back to today’s launch and, surprisingly, the folks at Ital Auto Malaysia were kind to clue us in on price and deliveries for the Purosangue locally. The latter will see the firm delivering units to lucky local customers who’ve placed their bookings early starting from 2025 onwards.

Should the order books re-open, Ital Auto Malaysia insiders say the Purosangue will be offered to customers by invitation only. As for price, the firm were initially coy before eventually disclosing that it starts at a staggering RM5 million figure – Inclusive of minimum options, duties, and taxes.
