Xiaomi has submitted an application for a sales license for its inaugural electric vehicle (EV), the Xiaomi SU7 sedan to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), China. The car, formerly known as the MS11, will be produced under contract by Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co. Ltd (BAIC) rather than Xiaomi itself.

The car's specifications have been disclosed, with dimensions measuring 4997mm in length, 1963mm width, 1455mm height with a wheelbase of 3000mm. It will be offered with two wheel options, 19" and 20". There will be two variations of the Xiaomi SU7: one with lidar mounted behind the front windscreen and the other without. A B pillar camera is visible in the images, pointing to a possible face recognition unlocking capability.

Two powertrain options would be offered for the SU7: a 220kW (295HP) rear-wheel drive (RWD) motor and a 495kW (664HP) all-wheel drive motor (220kW rear and 275kW front). For the entry level model, LFP battery pack from BYD would be used while the high spec variant would be fitted with ternary NMC pack from CATL.

Furthermore, the top trim model, with a curb weight of 2,205 kg, can attain a top speed of 265 km/h, while the lower trim model, weighing in at 1,980 kg, would top-off at 210 km/h.

In our previous report, we touched on the Xiaomi SU7’s battery tech where the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant would apparently deliver up to 800KM of range while the all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant, running on the same battery would offer anywhere between 600 and 650KM of range.

According to Xioami’s MIIT filing documents, three versions of this model would be launched: SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max, including a trim that would feature an active rear wing.

As for the vehicle's infotainment system, it would run on Xiaomi's HyperOS, an internally developed operating system capable of powering smartphones and cars. Mass production is scheduled to commence in December 2023, with deliveries starting in February 2024.
