The Skudai R&R Southbound appears to be a charge point operator (CPO) hotspot, as it houses six (6) EV Charging stations operated by six CPO with a total of nine (9) charge points.

Charge+ is the most recent of the six, having recently launched its 120kW two-gun DC charger near the Skudai R&R's new food court. The 120kW DC charger would power two electric vehicle charging bays (EVCB) with a maximum output of 60kW per charging gun.

This would be Charge+, a Singapore-based CPO's first foray into the highly competitive Malaysia DCFC charging provider space. Charge+ currently has three (3) other AC charging facilities in Malaysia, which are located in Teega, Johor Bahru, as well as Residensi Vogue 1 and The Westside One in Kuala Lumpur.

According to Charge+, this facility is the first of many charging stations that will serve Malaysia's North-South Highway and is a key node in Charge+'s 5,000km EV charging network that runs through the Southeast Asian countries of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

For the time being, Charge+ will offer a promotional rate of RM0.90/minute for all EV charging sessions at this facility as an introductory offer. When contacted, Charge+ stated that while there is no set end date for this promotional rate, any price increase to its yet-to-be-disclosed actual rate would occur only next year.

EV owners who want to take advantage of this promotional offer can do so by downloading the Charge+ mobile app. The app currently supports only credit/debit card payments, with the option to top-up up to RM250 in Charge+ Credit for a seamless charging experience.
