One of the region's largest and longest-running rally events, the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR), marks its 29th edition in 2024. Malaysia and Thailand will jointly host said edition.

Set to take place in Aug 2024, the Asia Cross Country Rally 2024 (AXCR 2024) event sees both Thailand and Malaysia co-hosting the 29th edition of the annual rally racing event next year. It marks Malaysia’s re-entry as a host after a 20-year hiatus – Malaysia last hosted the event from 1996 to 2003.

In light of which, AXCR 2024 is set to see a the entry of a Malaysian team (Team Malaysia) competing across both two- and four-wheeled categories of the rally. Leading the bill for ‘Team Malaysia’ in AXCR 2024 is local rally racing legend Karamjit Singh, who will helm the team’s lead four-wheeled entry.

A local team effort called 'Team Malaysia' has been formed, and it features top and legendary names from the local motorsports field in its roster of drivers and riders.

Joining Karamjit, who’s also known as ‘The Flying Sikh’, is local rally racing ace Saladin Mazlan. The latter veteran will pilot Team Malaysia’s second four-wheeled entry. A third entry is also planned, and it sees local female motorsports athlete Leona Chin in the hot seat.

Besides the four-wheeled entrants mentioned, Team Malaysia will also be represented on two-wheels in AXCR 2024 spearheaded by Tommy Lee – Singapore-based former touring car racing veteran who’s renowned of late for his two-wheeled cross-country adventures.

At a special press conference held last week to announce Team Malaysia’s AXCR 2024 line up, Karamjit, Saladin, and Leona expressed their enthusiasm in flying the national flag for the event. This was echoed by Tommy who was also present, albeit via online video conference call.

Also present at this press conference was YB Lim Yi Wei, Selangor State Legislative Assemblywoman (ADUN) for Kampung Tunku.

With some of Malaysia's top and legendary motorsports legends and aces in its roster, this event is poised to become a prime platform for sponsors to showcase their commitment to excellence and align with the spirit of national pride.

Moreover, AXCR 2024 is more than a race; it's a dynamic showcase of endurance, skill, and national pride, thus offering sponsors a unique and compelling stage to elevate their brand presence. It also doubles up as a showcase of beautiful nature, cities, villages, people, and diverse cultures of “Malaysia: Truly Asia”.

The region’s oldest and largest cross country rally racing event is set to see its 2024 edition kicks off in Thailand first on Aug 11, 2024, and conclude in 17 Aug in Malaysia. More details will be available online via the official AXCR website, and social media pages (FB & Instagram).
