Despite being a relatively new player in the EV charge point operator space, DC Handal is no stranger to this field. Perhaps having links to veterans in this space - Yinson Greentech - has a lot to do with it, with said links reflected to the integration of both the Jomcharge and chargEV apps too.

Following its recently opened Bamboo Hills EV charging facility that was built in collaboration with Auto Bavaria, the group isn’t sitting idle as it plans to expand its network further. Set to become operational soon is the group’s new charging facility at the WCE Assam Jawa Toll Plaza Northbound (Exit 3210).

This recently opened toll plaza connects the Assam Jawa Interchange with the Bandar Bukit Raja Utara Interchange, thus providing direct access to Assam Jawa for drivers coming from Kapar, Selangor.

The WCE Assam Jawa EV charging location by DC Handal is set to house a 180 kW Kempower DC charger primed with two CCS guns capable of charging two EVs simultaneously.

According to a source of ours, said Kempower unit can handle up to 200 kW, but it has been throttled down to accommodate Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) grid availability. Presently, all installations are complete, and only pending TNB’s readiness.

Despite the fact that it is a single cabinet dual-gun setup, the Kempower dynamic charger can modulate charging based on the EV's state of charge (SOC). Those with lower SOCs will receive more input, so a quick top-up will suffice to get you to the next charging location.

Our insider source adds that DC Handal will expand its DC charging facility along the WCE Highway network as more sections of said highway are opened. Their next EV charging station would be located near Section 11, Taiping South, which connects to the PLUS Highway's Changkat Jering network. This section is scheduled to open by Feb 2024.

There are no concrete details available yet on charging rates. Nevertheless, based on all DC Handal DC charging stations launched so far, EV users will likely be charged RM1.50/kWh. Payments modes accepted include debit or credit card, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, as well as through both the JomCharge and chargEV apps.
