Prasarana recorded the highest number in early 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic.
As of November 30, Prasarana records a steady increase in the number of people using public transportation, with an average of almost 1.1 million users per day. Rapid Rail, which runs the Klang Valley's MRT, LRT, and Monorail, reported an average daily ridership of 835,119, while Rapid Bus recorded 258,710.
The highest daily ridership record was set on November 22, when 1,200,433 people commute on public transport. MRT-Malaysia-passengers.jpg

“These numbers represent the highest number of daily usage rates of services operated by Prasarana recorded since the country was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“At the beginning of 2020, the average number of passengers using Prasarana services was approximately 1.2 million people per day,“ Prasarana said.

According to Prasarana, these numbers are the highest since the Covid-19 pandemic, when an average of about 1.2 million people per day were recorded in early 2020. 1567963.jpg

The company claims that the rise in ridership is a result of its ongoing efforts to enhance the overall user experience, which includes making services available and maintaining high standards for facilities.

To guarantee uninterrupted travel on all of its routes, Rapid Rail is constantly working to enhance its offerings. Under the KLAV27 (Kuala Lumpur Additional Vehicle) project, the company has been running four new trains on the LRT Kelana Jaya Line since September.

Phased in through December 2024, an additional fifteen trains will be received. There are 48 trains operating on the LRT Kelana Jaya Line at an average frequency of every three minutes.

The MRT Putrajaya Line, which opened in March of this year, saw an increase in average ridership in November from 122,720 in October to 127,872. November saw 225,705 riders on the MRT Kajang Line, up from 219,576 in October.

An increase in average ridership is anticipated especially after the number of trains increases to 36 units with a frequency of every four minutes in January 2024.

In order to meet the growing demand, Rapid Bus will expand its fleet of buses and optimize its operations to achieve greater efficiency. By year's end, 1,000 buses are anticipated to run daily, up from 762 at the beginning of 2023. Bus lanes were implemented in the city center this year in collaboration with DBKL, and as a result of the easier travel, ridership in the Jalan Ampang corridor increased by 15%.

99% of public facilities, including lifts and escalators at train stations, are currently operational. However, facility improvement is a continuous process based on the condition-based maintenance concept. Prasarana says it is committed to improving its rail and bus services in order to increase public transportation usage to 40% by 2030.
