- Denso Fuel Pump Recall - 481,824 Vehicles Affected
The Japanese Transport Ministry has issued a recall for 481,824 vehicles from six manufacturers due to a defective fuel pump supplied by Denso Corp.
The faulty fuel pumps, which cause resin buildup, have the potential to prompt engine stalls or power loss in hybrid motors, according to a ministry statement released last Friday.
Over 30 models have been recalled, including cars and motorcycles manufactured by Subaru Corp, Mazda Motor Corp, Suzuki Motor Corp, Mitsubishi Motors Corp, Honda Motor Co, and Yamaha Motor Co.
Denso, a major supplier to Toyota Motor Corp. and other major automakers worldwide, has faced a number of significant recalls. With this latest recall, the company has recalled approximately 4.3 million vehicles in Japan.
Denso disclosed in Dec 2023 that it had collaborated with six Japanese automakers since March 2020 to recall 3.8 million fuel pumps.
On the same note, automaker Suzuki announced a recall of 18,000 vehicles outside Japan, while Subaru, Mazda, Honda, Mitsubishi, and Yamaha have not announced plans to recall vehicles in other countries.
In Malaysia, Bermaz Motor had recalled 19,685 vehicles in 2020 due to faulty Denso fuel pumps.
