Honda Malaysia has announced that it has maintained its top spot in the Non-National Passenger Vehicle Segment for ten years running, celebrating ten years of dominance in the Malaysian automotive industry.
Honda exceeded its annual target in 2023 with a sales performance that broke records, selling over 80,000 units in total.  With the recently launched models; the All-New CR-V, City, Civic Type R, and WR-V, also proving Honda Malaysia's tenacity in a competitive industry. 10628_1705646812-full.jpg

2023 also saw the City, HR-V, and City Hatchback as the top three selling models. These cars accounted for 30%, 25%, and 13% of Honda Malaysia's total sales, respectively. Additionally, the Civic, CR-V, WR-V, and HR-V all took first place in their respective segments, enhancing Honda's standing as a manufacturer of cars that appeal to Malaysian drivers.

Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura said, “2023 proved to be a challenging year where we faced a competitive market. However, Honda Malaysia managed to overcome and achieved our sales target in 2023 with strong support from our dealers and the Malaysian Government.

“Additionally, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all Honda customers who have played a crucial role in this achievement through their unwavering support towards the Honda brand.”

Honda Malaysia's success in 2023 was also greatly aided by the July introduction of the WR-V. The RS model led the pack and accounted for an amazing 60% of all sales, making the small SUV an instant icon. Within the first six months of its launch, the WR-V sold over 7,800 units, a remarkable milestone that demonstrated the vehicle's popularity among Malaysian consumers.

Sales of hybrid vehicles increased significantly for Honda Malaysia as well, especially for its e:HEV models. Sales of these environmentally friendly models rose by an impressive 87% from over 4,100 units in 2022 to over 7,700 units in 2023. Honda's e:HEV models contributed significantly to Malaysia's transition to sustainable mobility, making up 28% of all hybrid sales in the nation.

The company is optimistic about the automotive sector in 2024, expecting another exciting year in the industry.
