The Automotive Engineering Division of Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia (JPJ) is updating the guidelines on vehicle accident repair, according to the General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM).

This is to guarantee that, in compliance with the Road Transport Act of 1987, high-quality and secure repair techniques are applied to automobiles involved in accidents, which will become mandatory once implemented.

This project is the outcome of a cooperative effort by several important players in the motor accident repair ecosystem, such as the Malaysian Takaful Association, PUSPAKOM Sdn Bhd, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia (JPJ), Ministry of Transport Malaysia, Federation of Automobile Workshop Owners' Association, Malaysian Automotive Association, PIAM, and repairers (including franchise repairers).

These guidelines were developed with consideration for the most recent advancements in automotive technology and repair techniques, with an emphasis on the particular area that needs to be repaired, such as body corrosion, chassis and wheel alignment, kink/bend, and so on.
