Photo: JKR Kuantan The Kuantan-Segamat road is temporarily closed to all vehicles due to a sinkhole incident at Km102 of the stretch yesterday.
The Pekan Public Works Department (PWD) said in a statement that the stretch will be closed until January 28 to allow for repairs to the caved-in section.
PWD advised motorists traveling from Kuantan to Muadzam Shah in Rompin to take the Kuantan-Endau stretch through Pekan before exiting at Leban Condong for Muadzam Shah.
"Road users travelling from Gambang to Muadzam Shah can use the Pekan Batu Balek road before travelling towards the Kuantan-Endau stretch.
"The alternative route for road users from Muadzam Shah travelling to Kuantan is through Leban Condong-Muadzam Shah before connecting to the Kuantan-Endau stretch(coastal road)," read the statement.

The sinkhole, which appeared around noon yesterday, is believed to be the result of several hours of heavy rain in the area.
