- Full Closure On Gua Musang–Lojing Due To Sinkhole
The Gua Musang–Lojing road at Kilometre 78 near Kampung Jekjok, Pos Brooke, is now fully closed to all traffic after a fifth sinkhole in less than a year appeared along the stretch.
The Public Works Department (JKR) said the closure takes effect immediately and will remain in place until further notice.
“Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and plan their journeys carefully. The recommended detour is from Gua Musang to Sungai Koyan via Ringlet, Tapah and Ipoh,” JKR said.
The road has been plagued by repeated sinkholes since November last year, when the first one was detected and forced a full shutdown. A second, nine-metre-deep sinkhole appeared on 12 December just metres away from the first.
Another collapse followed on 15 March, but the road was partially reopened to light vehicles later that month to ease traffic during Aidilfitri.
The latest incident, which happened on 12 September, has now made the stretch too dangerous to keep open, prompting JKR to order a full closure once again.
