- New BMW X2 Makes ASEAN Debut at Singapore Motorshow
The all-new, second-gen BMW X2 coupe SUV makes its official regional debut at the ongoing 2024 Singapore Motorshow.
Months after making its global debut, the all-new, second-gen BMW X2 coupe SUV crossover has finally made its ASEAN regional debut at the ongoing 2024 Singapore Motorshow. Arriving in a single xDrive16i variant, the island republic nation is the first country in the region to officially get the new coupe SUV crossover model.

For the new X2 xDrive 16i specs, this sporty coupe SUV gets its motivation from a small 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol mill rated at 122 HP and 230 NM. Thanks to its small displacement and power output, the new X2 qualifies for a Category A COE (Certificate of Entitlement) in Singapore, which grants it a relatively low price tag of SGD 233,888 (RM816,585) with COE.
On the visual front, the baseline X2 xDrive 16i looks rather bare-boned compared to its souped-up X2 M35i twin previewed last year. Regardless of that, the coupe SUV is noticeably bulkier than its predecessor, now measuring 4,554 mm long, 1,845 mm wide, and 1,590 mm tall. More importantly, the new X2 also adopts a sportier coupe SUV crossover bodystyle, similar to its bigger siblings, the X4 and X6.

Despite boasting a sporty roofline with a rakish rear windscreen, the new X2 actually comes with a bigger boot space than the X1, which is often touted as the more ‘practical’ choice of the two. Measuring 560 litres, the X2’s cargo space is about 20 litres bigger than the X1’s, thus breaking the stigma of coupe SUVs offering less practicality than the conventional SUV body style.

The menu for the new BMW iX2 is already live on BMW Malaysia's official website
With the new X2 already making its landfall in our southern neighbour’s market, it begs the question of when this new coupe SUV will make its way to our local market. Interestingly, both the new BMW X2 and its electric twin, the iX2, are already listed on BMW Malaysia’s official website, indicating that we’re getting closer to their debut.
Coincidentally, BMW Malaysia is also planning to launch its latest flagship Retail.Next showroom in Balakong later this month. Would it be possible for the new X2 to make its official Malaysian debut concurrently with this new showroom launch? Be sure to stay tuned here at CariCarz.com to find out more…
