Perodua has issued an official statement responding to the widespread distribution of a customer's viral social media post regarding her recent nightmare ordeal in purchasing a brand new Perodua Bezza.
Following which, the carmaker says it has been in constant communication with the customer, known as Nagakanni Subramaniam, since Oct last year.  As part of the resolution process, Perodua offered Nagakanni a courtesy car and have proposed to buy back her malfunctioned vehicle.

“Perodua has also assured the customer that her case is being prioritised, and we hereby deny any allegation that no action has been taken to resolve the issue. A thorough investigation is underway regarding the issue and we will share the details in due time,” read Perodua’s statement.

Recently, Johor Bahru native Nagakanni went viral online after sharing on social media how her newly purchased car broke down the very next day – just eight hours after taking delivery of it from the dealership she had bought it from.
Nagakanni shared her ordeal on Facebook on Tuesday (2 Jan) saying that she picked up her new car, a Perodua Bezza 1.3X Premium, from Perodua dealers Harapan Terang Motor in Johor Bahru on 17 Oct, 2023 at around 11 AM.

The ‘gula’, or sugar mentioned in said viral Facebook post was in reference to sugar-like foreign substance discovered in the engine of their vehicle. Such substance resembling the foreign matter found is not used by Perodua, according to Perodua staff as claimed by the vehicle owner.

Nagakanni then expected to get a new car as a replacement but was told by the dealership instead to apply for a new loan to buy a new car.

Nagakanni declined their requests for a second loan and car because she is still paying RM537 per month for the defective car that had been left in their service centre.
