- Updated My Porsche App Sees Apple iPhone, Watch Now Rule The Cockpit
My Porsche app gets heavy updates favouring Apple iPhone and Apple Watch users.
Do you both own a relatively current Porsche model and use both an Apple iPhone and Apple Watch? Then perhaps this is good news for you. Porsche just announced a heavy update for its My Porsche app, and it now promises seamless and deeper integration within the customer’s digital ecosystem.
As a refresher, Porsche is amongst the select crop of brands that are set to let tech giants Apple take over its entire infotainment system soon via its bespoke CarPlay connectivity suite. Said collaboration is what led to the recent heavy updates for the My Porsche app mentioned.
Through which, new functions will be integrated into Apple CarPlay, which will enable users to perform actions such as changing the radio station, setting the vehicle’s temperature, and control ambient lighting settings, all directly from their iPhone screens.
Part of the update also sees greater integration and vehicle access using the Apple Watch.
Besides that, Porsche owners can soon check their vehicle via the My Porsche App for Apple Watch too. This will allow owners to pull up real-time information on their vehicle like the cabin temperature, and door lock status in a more direct manner from their wrist.
Moreover, Porsche owners can also access their Performance Dashboard through CarPlay, which can show performance data in real time – including a driver’s top speed, G-forces they achieved, driving efficiency, average speed, distance, and more data as such.
This deepened integration even sees Apple’s renowned Siri intelligent voice command now added to over 400,000 existing vehicles. For vehicles equipped with PCM 6.0 or newer, Siri can be accessed by a button on the steering wheel too.
For Porsche EV owners, the updated My Porsche app now lets you plan rotes and charging stops using your iPhone.
Besides these added functions, the heavily updated My Porsche app also sees as revised and cleaner new look for the app, which also makes it more user-friendly than before too. The latter also sees new additional quick functions that owners can perform their favourite tasks with greater ease.
Noteworthy is the integration with Apple CarPlay, which allows Porsche EV drivers to plan routes and charging stops using their phones before starting their journeys. This deeper integration sees the app considering of the vehicle’s state of charge, thus allowing it to plan charging stops ahead of time.
