- Apple’s iCar Might Be Gone But Chery’s iCar Is Still Alive!
Following Apple's announcement of discontinuing the iCar project in the US, Chery in China swiftly unveiled its own iCar 03, expressing confidence in its potential sales of 10,000 units monthly.
The Chery iCar 03 is built on an all-aluminium multi-chamber caged body structure that measured 4,406 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, 1,715 mm in height, and 2,715 mm in wheelbase. The taillights are vertically arranged, and the tailgate opens from the left side.
Six versions with the offered, namely the Standard RWD at RMB 109,800 (RM72,700), Advanced RWD at RMB 119,800 (RM79,300), Long-range RWD at RMB 129,800 (RM86,000) and Long-range AWD at RMB 139,800 (RM93,000).
All models come standard with automatic headlights, wipers, a roof rack, an electronic parking brake, a 6-way electric driver's seat, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, tyre pressure monitoring, ESP, a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, and an 8-speaker sound system.
Mid-range models would gain features like folding side mirrors, a panoramic sunroof, an NFC keycard, a 50W wireless mobile charger, a powered rear trunk door, a dashcam, and a Qualcomm 8155 chip for in-car controls.
High-end models gets a few extra equipment, including heated steering wheels, heated and ventilated seats, an electric passenger seat, side curtain airbags, a 12-speaker sound system, 64-colour ambient lighting, and DJI intelligent driving assistance.
These high-range models will also come with a camera-based L2+ intelligent driving assistance system, which allows for route memory, highway NOA (autopilot navigation), intelligent parking, and other features.
The iCar will be available in two power options: the Mid-range will have a rear-mounted single-motor delivering 184 HP and 220 Nm of torque, while the High-range will have a dual-motor 4WD configuration delivering 279 HP and 385 Nm of torque, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100KMH in 6.5 seconds.
