- GWM ORA Good Cat Scores 97% Green NCAP Rating
The GWM ORA Good Cat recently received top honours from Green NCAP, a green vehicle assessment programme that evaluates vehicle efficiency and environmental impact. This assessment is hosted and supported by the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP).
The ORA Good Cat scored an impressive 97% on average, earning a 5-star Green rating and winning the 'Small Family Car' and 'Full Electric Car' categories. Notably, the ORA Good Cat received the 'Greener Choice' award for its low environmental impact throughout its entire life cycle.
The ORA Good Cat received a score of 10.0 in the Clean Air test, 9.5 in the Energy Efficiency test, and 9.8 in the Greenhouse Gases test from Green NCAP, which praised its "good efficiency under a variety of conditions".
Dr. Aleksandar Damyanov, Technical Manager at Green NCAP, emphasised that "the responsibility for cleaner air might just lie more on the shoulders of industry rather than regulators."
Toby Marshall, Managing Director of GWM ORA United Kingdom, expressed his delight with the outstanding results, stating, "ORA Good Cat has exceptional sustainability and efficiency credentials, factors that will resonate strongly with UK consumers."
GWM entered the European market in 2022, with a vehicle lineup that included the WEY Coffee 01 and Coffee 02, which received Euro NCAP five-star ratings and annual model awards. In 2023, the WEY Coffee 01 received five-star ratings from ECAP and Green NCAP, solidifying GWM's market position.
Looking ahead to 2024, GWM intends to maintain its global market position while also offering more advanced models and services to Malaysian customers. In Malaysia, GWM currently sells the ORA Good Cat in two variants and the GWM Canon Ultra, with the ORA 07 set to launch in March.
GWM's partner EPMB would also focus on CKD production in 2024, with plans to gradually increase annual production to 20,000 units by 2028.
