GWM Malaysia’s presence at GATE 2025 underscores a deeper ambition that goes beyond showcasing new models and technologies. The company is using its growing foothold in the country to accelerate a localisation strategy aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s position as a regional hub for intelligent and new-energy mobility.
Localisation has become a central pillar of GWM’s long-term plan. The brand is collaborating with Malaysian vendors to localise key components such as seat modules, wiring harnesses, sub-frames, door trims and batteries.

Plans are also underway to expand localisation into exhaust systems, carpets and suspension assemblies. This aligns with Malaysia’s industrial goals while giving local suppliers a stronger role in an evolving mobility ecosystem.
GWM’s localisation push is already reflected in its production footprint. The GWM Haval H6, one of the brand’s core offerings in Malaysia, is assembled in Malacca by EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB). This local assembly enhances supply chain resilience while supporting skilled employment and technology transfer within the domestic automotive industry.

While localisation remains the anchor of its GATE 2025 message, GWM is also highlighting the next phase of its technology roadmap. Central to this is the Hi4 intelligent hybrid system, a dual-motor 4WD setup designed to deliver the power of a 4WD and the efficiency of a 2WD.
Developed through GWM’s global R&D network, Hi4 has been tested in varied global environments and calibrated for Malaysia’s road conditions and climate. “Hi4 represents the next step in hybrid innovation. It is technology that makes powerful driving intelligent and efficient effortlessly,” said Cui Anqi, MD of GWM Malaysia.

The brand is also preparing for its next major product introduction in early 2026 with the GWM WEY G9, a luxury MPV we recently previewed that will debut the Hi4 system locally. The model has gained strong traction in China, surpassing 10,000 units in sales for Oct 2025 and positioning itself as a leading MPV across segments.
“The GWM WEY G9 will redefine what premium hybrid mobility means for Malaysian families,” said Roslan Abdullah, COO of GWM Malaysia.

GWM Malaysia believes these advancements will mark a new phase of intelligent, connected mobility for Malaysian drivers, supported by the expansion of its dealer network and continuous investment in the local ecosystem.
