Work To Expand Stretch Of PLUS Expressway In Johor Will Commence In June
According to the New Straits Times, work on the PLUS Malaysia expansion project for the North-South Expressway, which aims to widen the section of road between Senai Utara and Sedenak from four to six lanes, is scheduled to start in June.
Phase one of the expansion project is expected to be finished in three years and will cover a distance of 21.8 km, according to Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad, chairman of the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM).
“It is a challenging task to widen the road from Senai Utara to Sedenak, given its hilly and steep terrain. However, despite the setbacks, it would be our primary focus,” the LLM chairman said.
According to Hasni, the second phase of the highway widening project will run from Sedenak to Machap and is scheduled to start at the beginning of 2025. This project will be expanded to Ayer Hitam, which is 17.3 kilometers away. However, this is still under consideration.
In order to prevent the highway expansion project in Johor from falling behind schedule, the chairman is hoping that it will be given priority and move forward without any problems.
“The traffic management plan in the expansion areas is being fine-tuned, including scheduling journeys for heavy vehicles using the highway. Some heavy vehicles may be diverted to federal roads, but this is still being studied and discussed,” Hasni said.
