The New Car Assessment Programme for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) recently evaluated the latest 2024 Honda Accord at the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS).

This marked the program's first vehicle evaluation of the year. The Accord was awarded a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating under the 2021-2025 protocol after scoring a total of 87.44 points.

Although the test was conducted in Malaysia, as we had previously reported, Honda Malaysia elected to axe the 11th-Gen Accord due to declining sales for D-segment sedans. Instead, more buyers are opting for crossover SUVs these days.

In this evaluation, the D-segment sedan excelled in four assessment categories: adult occupant protection (AOP) with 38.63 points, child occupant protection (COP) with 17.75 points, safety assist (SA) with 18.57 points, and motorcyclist safety (MS) with 12.50 points.

The 2024 model, released in late 2023, had previously been tested last year under the 2017-2020 testing protocol where it scored 91.79 points.

The Accord comes standard equipped with safety features such as eight airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Seat Belt Reminder System (SBR), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Visualisation (BSV), Auto High Beam (AHB), Pedestrian Protection Technology (PP), and Child Presence Detection (CPD).

Furthermore, it also includes advanced safety features like Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Drive Attention Monitor (DAM), FCW for Motorcycle, and AEB for Motorcycle, which are available as standard or optional equipment.

The ASEAN NCAP review praised Honda's commitment to integrate prominent safety features and collision-avoidance technologies in its vehicles, as well as its willingness to collaborate with road safety agencies such as MIROS to promote road user safety in ASEAN countries.
