Hyundai has updated the Ioniq 5 EV for the South Korean market, featuring a new N Line variant.

After more than three years since making its global debut, the stylish Hyundai Ioniq 5 is finally due for a mid-life update. Featuring a minor design tweak and a host of updated equipment, the facelifted Ioniq 5 also arrives in the South Korean market with a new N Line variant.

The updated Hyundai Ioniq 5 now comes with a new, top-spec N Line variant for the Korean market.

The new N Line variant will bridge the gap between the standard Ioniq 5 and its manic, N-badged twin, the Ioniq 5 N. As a result, this new range-topping variant of the Ioniq 5 gains some sporty additions, including new front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and N Line badges, as well as new 20-inch wheels with a snazzier five-spoke design.

As for the standard Ioniq 5 models, the facelift treatment sees this stylish EV crossover hatch getting some mild design tweaks. Key changes include a redesigned front grille, reshaped front and rear bumpers, a larger rear spoiler, new wheel options, and the presence of a rear windscreen wiper.

On board, Hyundai has decided to go against the Tesla-derived minimalist path by reintroducing several physical buttons to the facelifted Ioniq 5’s cabin. Said buttons are reserved for multiple functions, including dedicated ones for climate control and seat ventilated functions, as well as one to activate the parking assist function.

Aside from those, the facelifted Ioniq 5 also gains Ioniq 6-style interactive pixel lights on its steering wheel, a redesigned central console with better access to its wireless charging pad, a revamped infotainment system that now supports over-the-air (OTA) software updates, and many more.

Opting for the top-spec N Line sees the Ioniq 5’s cabin getting some N-specific parts, including sportier front seats wrapped in two-tone upholstery with red stitching, a black-hued headliner, and a different look for the steering wheel and dashboard.

The standard model for the facelifted Ioniq 5 now gets a bigger 84-kWh battery pack, alongside some other chassis and equipment upgrades.

As for its mechanical upgrade, the facelifted Ioniq 5 is now offered with a bigger 84-kWh battery for the regular model, replacing the previous 77.4-kWh unit for a better maximum EV range. While its motor setup and options remain the same, Hyundai has also tweaked the Ioniq 5’s chassis with higher body stiffness and reinforcing the doors and B-pillars, as well as the car’s damper setup to reduce excessive vibrations.

All in all, these chassis upgrades allow the updated Ioniq 5 to deliver better ride comfort, while the extra insulation primed in the cabin promises a better noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) level for this EV crossover hatch.

The facelifted Hyundai Ioniq 5 and its new N Line variant are poised to go on sale in the South Korean market later in March this year, with the rest of the world expected to get the same update later this year.
