Fourth-Gen Hyundai Tucson Gets Mid-Life Update in Europe
The fourth-gen Hyundai Tucson gets a mid-life update in Europe
While the fourth-gen Hyundai Tucson recently made its debut in our local market, folks in Europe are getting an updated version of the infamous Korean SUV model. First-time being updated since its 2020 global debut, the EU-bound Tucson facelift features mild design update, plus an all-new interior.
For starters, the updated Tucson now comes with a slightly-tweaked front face, featuring an ‘evolved’ version of the same Parametric Dynamics design we saw on its predecessor. This includes a new front grille design, updated Parametric Jewel lighting segments, as well as a more rugged-looking front bumper with a faux skid plate.
Aside from those, the facelifted Tucson is also offered with new wheel options with varied sizes, plus a revised rear end. As for now, no additional details have been given by Hyundai regarding both upgrades, but we can expect to know them once the car arrives in any Hyundai European showrooms.
The updated Tucson gains brand-new interior design, featuring a dual-screen layout
More importantly, the facelift treatment grants the Tucson SUV with a brand-new interior space, featuring a cleaner and more modern-looking design than its predecessor. The more conventional front dash design houses a panoramic curved display unit consisting of two 12.3-inch displays – one for the digital instrument cluster, and one for the central infotainment system.
Fortunately, Hyundai has retained physical buttons and controls for the Tucson’s climate control, with the central vents placed right above the control panel. Moving to its updated floating central console, it features a wireless charging pad plus several cup holders and storage spaces, with the gear shifter being moved to the right-bottom quadrant of the steering wheel – similar to what we saw on the Hyundai Ioniq 6 EV.
As for now, Hyundai has yet to share details regarding the powertrain specs of the facelifted Hyundai Tucson. However, word around the campfire suggests that there could be slight improvements across the board. For reference, the pre-facelift fourth-gen Tucson in Malaysia is offered with two powertrain options – a 2.0-litre 4-cyl nat-asp MPI mill rated at 156 PS and 192 NM, and a peppier 1.6-litre 4-cyl TGDi turbo petrol engine outputting 180 PS and 265 NM.
Offered with two new exterior colourways – Fine Green Matte and Ultimate Red Metallic – plus a new tri-tone interior colourway, the facelifted Hyundai Tucson SUV is set to make its market entry in the European market later this year. By then we’ll also know more details regarding this updated Korean SUV, as well as its availability in other international markets outside of Europe.
