- Honda's New Patent Hints At Secret Storage In EV Bumpers
Honda Motor Company recently filed a patent application with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The patent describes plans for an additional storage solution embedded in the bumpers of electric vehicles. This hidden compartment is intended to provide additional storage space for EV owners.
The patent also describes a pull-out drawer that will be located in an electric vehicle's rear bumper. According to reports, this storage area is designed for a future scenario in which vehicles can be used as designated delivery locations. Furthermore, storing a package in this compartment provides greater security than leaving it on a home's front porch.
According to the Motor Authority, the storage compartment will be accessible to third parties while the rest of the vehicle remains inaccessible. It will have its own locking system, separate from the car's doors and trunk. Additionally, the storage area will have its own air conditioning, ensuring that packages remain in good condition even on hot days.
However, as with any other patent application, the realization of Honda's innovative concept has yet to be confirmed. Only time will tell if this innovative idea will make it into production.
