- Jaecoo Malaysia Confident Of Brand's Reception In Malaysia
Jaecoo J7 being put through its paces recently at the M4Trec 4x4 off-road course.
Previewed locally earlier this year, the Jaecoo J7 – and the larger Jaecoo J8 – premium SUV offering is set to enter the local marketspace starting from the second half (H2) this year. Ahead of which, Jaecoo Malaysia has expressed its confidence of the brand’s reception amongst Malaysians.
At a press iftar session hosted by the Malaysian arm of the Chinese automaking firm this week, newly appointed Vice President of the brand Emily Lek shared that Jaecoo’s debut in Malaysia is a timely one, given the local market’s ever-increasing demands for more SUV offerings as such.
Newly appointed Vice President of Jaecoo Malaysia Emily Lek (left) beleives the brand is well positioned as a strong challenger in the local C-segement SUVs market space.
“We believe Jaecoo is well positioned as a strong challenger in the C-segment market, in line with the positive sentiments from prospecting customers,” said the exec. This likely stems from the reception and feedback garnered through the ‘Jaecoo Premiere Experience’ effort.
Announced and launched late last week, the Jaecoo Premiere Experience is a specially devised hands-on roadshow slated to run until May 19 at a slew of strategic locations. Central to this experience tour is the showcase of the Jaecoo J7 premium off-road SUV model.
The Jaecoo J7 is currently on tour through the Jaecoo Premiere Experience held at selected locations until May 19.
As a refresher, the Jaecoo J7 previewed to local press members earlier this year packs a 1.6-litre 4-cyl tubo petrol heart paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic box, the former rated at 197 PS and 290 NM. The latter is also primed further with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup in its highest guise.
Said powertrain is packaged in an expressive yet contemporary design that exudes both high-end luxury and go-anywhere ruggedness. Key touches include striking all-LED lighting, 19-inch wheels, prominent front grille, stow-away door handles, and more.
Previewed to local press earlier this year, the Jaecoo J7 is also set to be localised (CKD) ahead of its upcoming market entry that's slated for the second half (H2) of this year.
Style, luxury, and performance aside, the Jaecoo J7 is also richly kitted with the latest in safety tech. For Malaysia, the J7 is set to be primed with a slew of active driver assistance (ADAS) features – 21 in total – that enables Level 2 semi-autonomous driving abilities.
No indication of price were given yet, but given Jaecoo Malaysia’s plans to locally assemble (CKD) both the J7 and J8, the former is widely tipped to be priced similarly as its not-so-distant cousin the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro – said model, also a CKD offering, is currently tagged at RM159,800.
More details about the Jaecoo J7 and its larger J8 sibling are available in our initial preview reports – click here and here. Alternatively, details are also available now through Jaecoo Malaysia’s newly established official website, Jaecoo.com.my.
