Here's your first look at the upcoming MINI Aceman in base Aceman (right) and Aceman S (left) guises!

Thanks to leaked documents from the China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), we’re now given our first glimpse of the production-bound version of the new MINI Aceman EV crossover.

For the uninitiated, MINI’s new Aceman is set to fill in the gap between the new generation hatchback and Countryman models – a gap once filled by the now discontinued Clubman estate. However, unlike both the hatch and Countryman, the Aceman is set to be exclusively sold as an EV.

MINI Concept Aceman last seen on show during the Singapore Motor Show 2024 back in Jan this year.

The Aceman looks like a smaller and sportier iteration of the new Countryman, with proportions that are more akin to a subcompact hatch than SUV. Much of MINI’s contemporary design ethos is evident in its styling, namely the angular lighting units,  octagonal grille, and defined fenders.

Despite the latter, the Aceman is also still able to maintain much of the MINI brand’s traditional elements – i.e. its signature wraparound greenhouse and short overhangs. The leaked images shows the Aceman in both its regular and ‘S’ guises.

Note the styling differences between the base Aceman (left) and higher-specced Aceman S (right), the latter boasting fancier LED headlights and bronze accents in its skid plates.

The latter ‘S’ variant is primed with fancier LED headlights, bronze accents on its skid plates, and an S badge in the tailgate. Additionally, a slew of wheel designs ranging from 17- to 19- inch were presented, along with optional features destined for the flagship JCW (John Cooper Works) trim.

Prior to this leak, MINI already disclosed the Aceman’s dimensions, whereby it sits 4,075 MM long with a 2,606 MM wheelbase, 1,754 MM wide, and 1,495 MM tall. This sees the Aceman offering 80 MM more space between its axles over the MINI hatch, in fact.

Unlike the hatch and Countryman, the Aceman is built and developed solely an EV with no ICE-powered twin in sight.

Underneath, the MINI Aceman shares the same underpinnings as the new-generation MINI Cooper Electric model. The base-spec variant is expected to output 181 HP through its front-mounted e-motor that’s juiced by a 40.7 kWh battery pack.

The higher-specced Aceman S, on the other hand, is tipped to  feature a more potent 215 HP e-motor paired juiced by a larger 54.2 kWh battery. According to documents from China, the latter will get an electronically-capped V-max of 170 KM/H.

the Aceman will officially debut next month at Auto China 2024 before rolling out to global markets later this year.

Lastly, the JCW guise is set to offer styling and chassis enhancements without any additional power boost. This variant will be easily distinguished instead not through uprated performance, but via distinct aesthetics thanks to a prominent rear spoiler and decorative decals.

Officially, the MINI Aceman will debut at the upcoming Auto China 2024 show that starts from April 24. Following which, global rollout is slated for later this year as well.
