Bolt-1-750x364.jpg There could be a new e-hailing ride-sharing company entering the market. Bolt posted a job on LinkedIn two weeks ago for a country manager position, marking the brand’s establishment plans in the country ahead of its launch.

Bolt is looking for someone in Malaysia to lead and launch its e-hailing ride business here, per the job listing page. As a result, the position will collaborate closely with local communities, government representatives, and regulators in addition to the local operations team, regional manager, and headquarters teams.

Originally called Taxify when it was founded in 2013 by Markus Villig of Estonia, Bolt currently boasts three million drivers and more than 150 million customers across 45 countries, including Bangkok, Thailand. Tech Cabal reports that the ride-hailing company most recently expanded to Cairo, Egypt.

Bolt is currently operating in Bangkok, Thailand, where it provides individual ride-sharing services through Bolt Rides and corporate services through Bolt Business.

Bolt bills itself as the first European mobility super-app on its global website. The company says it is "fighting for better cities and against private cars, offering a better alternative to every purpose a private car serves," a range of services that includes food and grocery delivery, ride-hailing, and shared cars and scooters.

There is currently no confirmation of when Bolt will launch in Malaysia. We'll just have to wait and see.
