- Free Rides For The Disabled On Penang Ferry From April 8
Beginning on April 8, Persons with Disabilities (OKU) will be eligible for unlimited complimentary ferry rides between the Sultan Abdul Halim Shah jetty in Butterworth and the Raja Tun Uda jetty here.
According to PPC chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, this is a collaborative effort between Penang Port Commission (PPC) and Penang Port Sdn Bhd, as reported by Bernama. He said at a press conference here, "The commission and the port have refined the mechanism for implementing this free fare, but the OKU must first register at either terminal (on the island or mainland)."
Pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists who use their MyKads to register will have their fares waived. At the moment, pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists pay RM1, RM2, and RM2.50 for OKU.
