Pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists who use their MyKads to register will have their fares waived. At the moment, pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists pay RM1, RM2, and RM2.50 for OKU.

The MyJalan app has recorded more than 39,000 complaints since its launch in August 2023 but the majority of them fall outside the <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/08/rm25-million-allocated-to-light-up-dark-federal-roads-kkr" target="_blank" style="">federal government’s scope</a>, Berita Harian has reported.Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan told Parliament that just 30% of the reports involved <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/07/kkr-rm94-million-spent-on-restoring-roads-after-2024-floods" target="_blank" style="">federal roads under the Ministry of Works (KKR), </a>while the remaining 70% were linked to roads managed by state or local councils.<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre;white-space:pre-wrap;">“In Sarawak alone, we received 809 complaints. The minister also explained that road damage is often caused by a combination of factors, including frequent rain and extreme heat, overloading by heavy vehicles, ageing infrastructure, low-quality pavement, and poorly executed utility work.<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre;white-space:pre-wrap;">To address long-term issues, he said the ministry will carry out a “swell investigation”, a study to assess soil and structural stability, especially for elevated roads. <span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre;white-space:pre-wrap;">In flood-prone areas, roads may be raised to prevent closures during the monsoon season.

At a late-night roadblock on the Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas), <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/08/jpj-warns-against-kopi-o-licences-as-fake-driving-school-goes-viral" target="_blank" style="">the Road Transport Department (JPJ) </a>caught dozens of motorists driving without valid licences, some without road tax or insurance for years.The operation, dubbed as <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/08/1489-summonses-issued-in-vep-enforcement-operation-jpj" target="_blank" style="">Ops Pengarah</a>, kicked off at 8.30PM Tuesday at the Kota Kemuning toll plaza and wrapped up nearly five hours later. Officers also found motorcycles with illegal exhaust modifications and vehicles with non-compliant lighting.

“We also impounded eight motorcycles and four cars, mainly for serious violations like expired road tax well past the legal limit,” he added.<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre;white-space:pre-wrap;">Other technical offences included failure to display number plates, missing rear-view mirrors, and drivers operating without a valid Goods Driving Licence (GDL).<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre;white-space:pre-wrap;">Azrin said operations like these are crucial ahead of the festive season when road traffic typically increases.&nbsp;

“We’re working closely with other agencies to ensure road users are not only aware of the rules but are following them,” he was quoted as saying.
