It appears that the manic Tesla Cybertruck is poised to make its ASEAN debut in Thailand.

Ever since its concept model introduction back in 2019, the Tesla Cybertruck has garnered so much attention from the global automotive community in general. With the actual production version already launched in the US last year, it appears that this manic EV truck is heading to the ASEAN region in Thailand.

As posted on Tesla Thailand’s official Instagram page, it seems like our northern neighbour kingdom is preparing for the arrival of the Cybertruck, as suggested by the caption that reads, “Prepare for a big shake-up with the Cybertruck's mission and receive limited-edition souvenirs.” Unfortunately, neither the photo nor its caption give us any specific timing for the arrival of the Cybertruck.

Similar to our local Tesla website, Tesla Thailand’s official website has also been displaying the Cybertruck menu ever since its global launch last year. However, nothing new can be derived from this dedicated page, as it only showcases the specs and additional features of the EV truck.

Fresh from its American debut, the Cybertruck is currently embarking on a globe-trotting tour, where the EV pick-up truck has visited several countries, including both Mexico and China, with the latter taking place at Tesla Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai. The Cybertruck’s detour in Mexico is also no coincidence, since the American automaker is planning to build the Tesla Giga Mexico production facility, located in the Nuevo Leon region.

With the Cybertruck now heading to Thailand as its next globe-trotting stop, perhaps this also coincides with something bigger than the EV truck itself.

The Tesla Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai currently stood as the marque's sole production hub in Asia.

As per our previous report, Tesla is actively engaging with the Thai government to set up its first Gigafactory in the region, as indicated by the recent talks between the representatives of the Thai Prime Minister’s office and the American EV marque. Should Tesla really decide to proceed with this big plan, this new plant will serve as Tesla’s main production hub for the ASEAN markets.
