Kia EV9 Open For Bookings – 2 Variants, Estimated From Above RM400,000
Dinamikjaya Motors (BAuto) has opened the order books for the new and award-winning Kia EV9 flagship EV SUV with an estimated RM400,000 starting price.
Earlier today, the Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd arm of Bermaz Auto (BAuto), distributors of Kia in Malaysia, took to social media to announce that the new award-winning Kia EV9 flagship EV SUV is now open for bookings.
Said social media post (also embedded below) was scant of details other than confirming that keen prospects can enquire about the Korean marque’s flagship EV through dealers. We’ve reached out to insiders over at BAuto to gain better insights.
According to our insider source, the EV9 will see two variants available for the Malaysian market based on seating layout – 7-seat (2-3-2) and 6-seat (2-2-2). Our source also disclosed that an estimated starting price of above RM400,000 is expected.
No technical specs were shared with us, but it is likely that Dinamikjaya Motors (BAuto) will offer the EV9 with the largest battery available – specifically the ‘Long Range’ guise, which packs a 99.8 kWh capacity.
Like the EV6 GT-Line model the firm currently offers, expect the EV9 to arrive in Malaysia solely with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup too.
Our insider disclosed that two variants will be available - 7-seat (2-3-2) and 6-seat (2-2-2). Expect both to be in 'Long Range' guise that packs a sizeable 99.8 kWh battery.
In terms of performance, said dual-motored EV9 variant offers up to 380 HP and 600 NM. In turn, this allows the massive three-row EV SUV to despatch 0-100 KM/H in just 5.3 seconds whilst enroute to an electronically-capped 200 KM/H V-max.
As for range, the dual-motor variant also promises up to 541 KM (WLTP). The 99.8 kWh battery mentioned also accepts AC charging inputs up to 11 kW, or up to 350 kW DC inputs. The latter method enables 10-80% re-charges in just 24 minutes.
Moreover, the EV9’s EV architecture also boasts a nifty built-in vehicle-to-load (V2L) function that outputs up to 3.58 kW, thus allowing it to power a variety of household electronics and devices. This feature was showcased prominently in the brand’s latest Super Bowl ad too.

Other specs and amenities remain unconfirmed for now, but we reckon we may not have long to wait before Dinamikjaya Motors (BAuto) conducts a preview, perhaps sometime after the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive holidays that starts next week.
