Report: Chery Set To Supply Platform To ‘Premium’ European Marque

Chery is set to ink a platform-supply deal with a 'premium' European marque, reveals its chairman.
Chery is set to sign a deal with a ‘premium’ European brand where the Chinese automaker will supply the latter party with one of its platforms, reports Automotive News Europe. This was confirmed by the Wuhu-rooted marque’s chairman Yin Tongyue recently.
"Two premium European marques want to use our platform and a deal will be signed with one of them, a more premium brand than us," said Yin last weekend during a livestreaming event promoting the automaker’s latest Exlantix ET flagship EV SUV marketed under its Exeed premium sub-brand.
Yin didn’t name these two premium brands yet, but an announcement is expected soon enough given the following facts.
Chery recently began promoting its new Exlantix ET flagship EV SUV that's marketed under its Exeed premium sub-brand in China.
Besides the Exlantix, Chery's Exeed marque also has other offerings like the VX and RX pictured, both being highly up-market SUVs.
As a refresher, the Exlantix ET flagship EV SUV model mentioned saw order books opened in China early last month. The model underpins Chery’s E0X high-end platform that supports both 400- and 800-volt EV architectures that’s packaged in sleek design matched with high-end on-board luxuries.
The exec has reportedly embarked on a European trip this week to sign this platform-supply deal with the still unnamed ‘premium’ European carmaker. At the same time, Yin also confirmed that Chery is negotiating with at least one other marque for the same platform-supply cooperation too.
Though Chery did not name the 'premium' brands it is poised to finalise this new platform-supply deal with, the Chinese automaker does currently partner with Jaguar Land Rover where the former produces the latter's vehicles in China.
In addition to these two brands that Chery is poised to finalise partnerships with, the state-owned automaker is also in talks with two other brands over possible collaborations, adds Yin. Presently, the Chinese firm has a joint-venture with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to build its vehicles in China.
In the greater European Union (EU), Chery is also reportedly close to securing a deal with both the Spanish government and lead negotiator EV Motors. From this, Chery is poised to establish its first EU-based manufacturing site located in said Iberian Peninsula nation.
