XPeng, a prominent Chinese electric vehicle startup and the Volkswagen Group, a global automotive powerhouse, has entered into a collaborative and framework agreement with respect to Electrical/Electronic Architecture (E/E Architecture) sharing.

XPeng’s latest innovative E/E Architecture, would serve as the foundation for its extensive software and hardware solutions. This architecture would enable seamless integration of software like ADAS and Connectivity OS, supporting quick software iteration across several platforms.

The most recent edition of XPeng’s E/E Architecture uses central computing and domain controller-based design to provide high-performance computing within cars at a competitive cost. It supports Gigabit Ethernet high-speed data transfer and incorporates multiple electronic control units, resulting in a highly efficient and cost-effective system. Additionally, the architecture allows for efficient over-the-air (OTA) updates for automobiles.

Under this agreement, XPeng and the Volkswagen Group will collaborate to incorporate XPeng’s E/E Architecture into Volkswagen's China Main Platform (CMP) for electric vehicles. This collaborative endeavour intends to equip Volkswagen-branded electric vehicles made in China with cutting-edge technologies beginning in 2026.

Meanwhile, Ralf Brandstätter, Member of Volkswagen AG's Board of Management for China, emphasised the strategic importance of integrating with China's industrial ecosystem and expediting product development to satisfy the changing demands of Chinese customers.
