Angka-Tan Motor Sdn Bhd (ATM) has unveiled the 2024 Foton eAumark at the Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo 2024 earlier this week. The eAumark will also be the first pure-electric light-duty vehicle to be officially sold in Malaysia.
ATM, a subsidiary of Warisan TC Holdings Bhd, is committed to meeting its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives in tandem with the national move toward green mobility, which aims to achieve zero emissions mobility by 2050.

The Foton eAumark is 5,960 MM long, 2,000 MM wide, and 2,210 MM tall, with a single wheelbase of 3,360 MM. It also has a rated gross vehicle weight ranging between 4,250kg and 6,000kg, depending on payload configuration.
Powering the Foton eAumark is a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor producing 115kW (154 HP) and over 900 NM of torque. The electric motor is juiced by an 81.14 kWh CATL iron-phosphate battery, providing a top speed of 95 KM/H with a WLTP range of up to 200 KM.

According to ATM, the electric powertrain is designed to handle extreme weather conditions such as Malaysia's tropical climate, with the battery certified for IP67 water and dust protection as well as high-temperature resistance (600°C ignition point). It also supplies 10kW of power to an ePTO (electric power take-off) port, which can be used to power external equipment.
The Foton eAumark comes equipped with LED headlights and ADAS capabilities to ensure optimal safety while driving. It will also offer a roomy cabin measuring 1,880 MM wide for optimum comfort.

Additionally, the eAumark is standard-equipped with an electronic power steering (EPS), energy-saving air cond system, a knob-type gear selector, and a rich LCD instrument cluster that clearly displays all important vehicle information, such as battery level and range.
Every eAumark sold include a complementary 22kW AC Wallbox Charger, allowing the truck to remain fully charged when off duty. According to the information provided, the eAumark can be charged from 20% to 100% SoC in 1.5 hours using a DC charger and 8 hours using an AC charger.

Although not listed in the specifications, a little digging reveals that the eAumark can accept up to 11kW AC charging input, as well as up to 80kW DC fast charging.
The pure-electric Foton eAumark would be offered at an introductory price of RM238,000. Included in that figure too is a manufacturer warranty covering the cabin and chassis for up to three years or 100,000 KM, and a five-year or 200,000 KM warranty covering the drive motor, 81.14kWh battery, and BMS.

With the launch of the Foton eAumark, do you believe that Malaysia's adoption of electrified commercial trucks will start growing? As we have seen before, the demand for small electrified vans proved encouraging last year, with many local SMEs and large courier firms like Pos Malaysia and DHL embracing them.
