- 2024 Citroen C3 Aircross Debuts with New 300-KM-Rated EV Variant

The all-new 2024 Citroen C3 Aircross seven-seat SUV breaks cover with a new, 300 KM-rated EV variant.
The all-new, second-gen Citroen C3 Aircross has made its debut in the European market today. Besides arriving in a three-row, seven-seat form with tons of design changes over the previous model, this new subcompact SUV crossover is also offered in an all-electric form for the first time.

Underpinning Stellantis’ new affordable-focused Smart Car platform, the new Euro-spec C3 Aircross is available in either full-ICE petrol or petrol mild-hybrid (MHEV), as well as a battery electric (BEV) variant. Focusing on the latter for now, the new C3 Aircross EV is motivated by the same single, front-mounted (FWD) electric motor setup used on the e-C3 EV crossover.
Rated at 111 HP, said motor setup is juiced by a small 44-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack that grants the crossover up to 300 KM of EV range. While this sounds pale in comparison with other EV crossovers out there, Citroen said that another EV variant with a larger battery pack is due to arrive next year, capable of delivering more than 400 KM of EV range in a full charge.

While Citroen has yet to declare the 0-100 KM/H acceleration performance for the new C3 Aircross, we can expect them to be slower than the already slouchy e-C3’s century sprint time of 10.4 seconds, given the former sporting a longer body than the latter model, while running on the same motor setup.

In terms of visuals, the new, second-gen C3 Aircross looks more handsome and less quirky compared to its predecessor, featuring similar design cues we saw on newer Citroen models like the aforementioned e-C3. Key design highlights include the C-shaped LED headlights flanking its grill-less front bumper, matching C-shaped LED taillights, aggressive front and rear bumper accents, new two-tone alloy wheels, and many more.

On board, the C3 Aircross EV comes solely in a two-row, five-seater layout, while its ICE-powered twins come in both five- and seven-seat configurations. Regardless of seating configurations, all C3 Aircross variants come standard with several tech amenities, including a 10.25-inch touch infotainment display, several USB-C charging ports, a wireless charging pad, and many more.

Set to go on sale in selected European countries later in September, the all-new 2024 Citroen C3 Aircross is expected to be priced below the £20,000 (RM120,000 approximately) mark for the ICE-powered variants, while the EV version will be priced slightly above the aforementioned mark. This practically makes the C3 Aircross one of the cheapest seven-seater SUVs to be sold in the Old Continent, and perhaps one of the cheapest EVs too.

As of now, Citroen has yet to announce any plans to export this new C3 Aircross to other markets beyond the Old Continent. Mind you, this new Euro-spec C3 Aircross is different from the ones currently on sale in emerging markets like India and Latin America, featuring different looks and coming solely in full-ICE form.
